Touching the Tibetan Spirit
Moderat's "Eating Hooks" videoclip interpretation
I wanted to create a visual representation of experiencing tibetan religion with the initial inspiration from Moderat's music and videoclip. By creating an environment in the studio, where my model could take inspiration from the culture and religion, I allowed her to act on it with her body and colorful scarves. I captured it with long exposure and later edited it according to the main idea: "The process of experiencing is more important than the physical outcome".

While shooting photos I was trying to make it a sort of a performance. I played Eating Hooks and later made a transition to Tibetan chanting and singing bowls to give my model context. She was familiar with basics of theory, yoga and meditation.

I wanted to capture her own way of experiencing it, her natural expression through her understanding of meditation, yoga and her knowledge. We were using long exposure and colorful scarves to enhance this main idea. For the post- production I was inspired by the fragment of Samsara (2011), where monks were praying with mandalas. The beautiful and meticulous mandala was sweept and mixed. This was very important in developing the main idea. The process and way of experiencing prayer, meditation, music, is more important than the effect/ physical outcome. That's why I decided to distort images using scanner and digital manipulation. The forms are supposed to vaguely resemble traditional tibetan music notes, since I was mostly inspired by the music.

Model: the amazing Martyna Matuszczyk. You can find her here @uszepti.
